We are not a showroom with a hitting net attached. The bay is the whole business, and it holds one golfer at a time.
A Spreadsheet That Would Not Go Away
Before there was a studio there was a spreadsheet. Ellery Vance, who had spent nine years behind a repair bench at a Midlands club, kept logging the same finding: golfers arriving with brand-new equipment and yardage charts that made no sense. Three clubs stacked at the same carry. A hole at 190 that nothing covered. Wedges bought as a matched set that landed four yards apart.
The equipment was fine. The map was wrong. In 2009 she leased a bay on Devine Street with a launch monitor, a loft and lie machine, and a rack of tip sections, and started selling the map instead of the merchandise.
Sixteen years later the method has not moved much. The screen has gotten better and the shaft rack has gotten longer, but the first hour of every session is still the golfer hitting their own clubs while somebody writes down what actually happens.

Everything is measured in the same room where it is built, so the specification and the finished club are checked against the same instruments.
Four Things We Will Not Do
Every studio says it is independent. These are the specific commitments that phrase is supposed to mean.
No Sales Targets by Brand
Nobody here has a quota to hit on any manufacturer's line. If the best answer for you is the driver already in your bag with a different shaft, that is what the sheet will say.
No Fitting Without a Baseline
We will not start swapping components before your current clubs have been measured. Without a baseline there is nothing to compare a change against, and every result becomes an opinion.
No Verbal-Only Results
Every session produces a printed specification with the numbers behind each decision. You can take it anywhere. It is yours, not a lead form.
No Overlapping Bookings
One golfer in the bay at a time, with a buffer either side. The bay is never double-booked to squeeze in an extra session on a busy Saturday.
The Midlands, Specifically
Columbia sits low, humid and hot for a long stretch of the year, and that shapes the fittings we do here more than most people expect. Summer air carries the ball differently than the spring mornings people used to set their yardages. Fairways that hold a wedge in April get firm enough by August to change which bounce works.
Because we fit almost entirely for golfers playing within an hour of the studio, we can be specific about that. A wedge grind recommendation for someone playing sandy Midlands turf is not the same recommendation we would give for a course on heavy clay, and we say so.
Golfers come to us from Lexington, Irmo, Camden and Sumter as well as Columbia itself. If you are travelling further, tell us when you book — we will usually fold two categories into one longer visit so the trip is worth it.
