The sequence matters as much as the equipment. Here is exactly how a session runs, minute by minute.
One Variable at a Time, Always
The fastest way to get a wrong answer in a fitting bay is to change two things at once. Swap the head and the shaft together, watch the carry improve, and you now have no idea which change did the work — or whether one of them made things worse and the other simply compensated.
So we move slowly and deliberately. Loft, then shaft, then length, then grip, each change isolated and each result recorded. It takes longer than pulling four demo clubs off the rack and hitting whichever feels best, and it is the only way the specification means anything a month later.
It also means we can tell you which changes were marginal. If a shaft upgrade moved dispersion by two yards, you deserve to know that before you pay for it.
Typical Ninety Minutes
- 0–15 min — warm-up, no data recorded
- 15–35 min — baseline on your own clubs
- 35–45 min — carry map drawn and discussed
- 45–80 min — component testing, one change at a time
- 80–90 min — specification written and explained

Five Stages, In This Order
Conversation Before Data
What you play, how often, what the miss looks like, and what you actually want the session to fix. Ten minutes here saves half an hour of chasing the wrong number later.
Baseline on Your Own Clubs
Ten to fifteen recorded swings per club with the equipment you brought. We keep the median, not the best one — the outlier strike is not what you take to the course.
The Carry Map
Every baseline carry plotted on one sheet with the gaps and overlaps marked. This is the point most sessions change direction, because the problem is rarely where people expect.
Isolated Component Testing
Changes introduced one at a time against the baseline. Anything that does not clearly improve a number we care about gets rejected and noted.
Specification and Build
The sheet is printed and walked through with you. If you order the build, it is assembled here and re-measured against the same instruments before pickup.
Why We Throw Out Your Best Shot
A fitting built around your single best strike produces a bag that only works on the days everything clicks. We record the middle of your distribution and fit that, which is a less flattering conversation and a far more useful club.
Sessions That End in No Purchase
Roughly one session in six concludes that the current equipment is correct and the issue is elsewhere. We say so, credit nothing because there is nothing to build, and you leave with the map anyway.
What Happens to the Specification
Printed and Filed
You take the printed copy. We keep a filed duplicate so future sessions start from a real history rather than a fresh guess.
Assembly Timeline
Stocked components are usually built within three working days. Special-order shafts depend on the supplier, and we quote a date rather than a hope.
Thirty-Day Follow-Up
Bring the build back within thirty days and we will re-measure it against the specification at no charge, adjusting lie or swingweight if play has revealed anything.
